What is the advantage of an air feedthrough in the rotary actuator?

Short compressed air paths, no torsion, no external hose paths that interfere with the flow - in summary, this is the benefit of being able to guide the air upwards through the rotating shaft. The picture on the right clearly illustrates this.

With the SM-4 series, Friedemann Wagner GmbH offers an extremely compact rotary actuator for small installation spaces .

Despite its small dimensions, the swivel unit has two air ducts - so, for example, a parallel gripper mounted on the swivel surface can be supplied with air through the rotating unit ! A quickly available approach for an additional axis - especially in applications with limited installation space.

With an effective torque of 0.3 Nm, the mini module can handle up to 3.5 kgcm2 of inertia. Depending on requirements, versions with or without hydraulic dampers are available. External, hollow stop screws ensure a repeat accuracy of ± 0.01° and at the same time provide space to accommodate the initiators .
