Protection class rotary indexing tables

RSE protection class – what if I'm exposed to splash water or an oily environment, for example? Is this still possible?

Our RSE rotary indexing tables comply with protection class IP 40.

Therefore, use in oily or drilling water-containing environments is not specified according to the operating instructions . Penetration of liquids can lead to corrosion of components (rack, pinion, bearings) and/or increased wear of the seals.

Fundamentally, however, it is always up to the user to decide whether to override the intended use. We have customers who have long since made decisions in the interests of their application: They utilize the repairability of our tables and replace corrosion-affected elements. This is done either through us (submission, analysis, quotation, repair order) or through their own equipment manufacturing department (see table below). This can be more cost-effective than some complex, fully encapsulated solutions.

At the customer’s request, specific solutions with sealing air have already been implemented:
Compressed air is continuously applied to a separate connection. This blows out from the interior of the rotary indexing unit and prevents the penetration of foreign matter.
Alternatively, enclosures are also practical, which at least make it more difficult for media to penetrate.
