Tiny linear unit LSM-3 with two carriages
LSM-3 Mini Slide: Maximum Precision in a Minimum Space Thanks to Two-Carriage System
In the assembly of small workpieces, space is often at a premium – yet precision is a must. The pneumatically driven LSM-3 mini slide from Friedemann Wagner was developed precisely for this challenge. Discover how this very small linear slide impresses with its stiffness and smart guidance concept.
The Powerhouse in Mini Format
The LSM-3 is among the smallest pneumatic linear slides on the market. It is the ideal solution for tasks where small components need to be positioned quickly and precisely. Despite its compact dimensions, it offers performance usually only found in much larger units.
The USP: Two Guiding Carriages for Maximum Stability
The secret to the LSM-3's precision lies in its construction. While many simple mini slides are built differently, the LSM-3 relies on two guiding carriages.
Why Two Guiding Carriages Make a Difference:
- Increased Stiffness: The system absorbs moments and transverse forces significantly better. This prevents disruptive deflection, even with a 50mm stroke length and tiny dimensions! Two guiding carriages ensure high precision - an immensely important criterion, especially in the automation of small workpieces.
- Precise Repeatability: Positioning remains exact even after millions of cycles. Hollow, hardened stop screws ensure a repeatability of +/-0.01 mm and also serve as a receptacle for the sensor. These can be used to adjust or influence the stroke by 15 mm on both sides.
- Longer Lifespan: The load is distributed, which minimizes wear.
Technical Highlights of the LSM-3 Mini Slide
- Very Small Design: Perfect for front-side mounting of the mini-gripper (PGM-29), facilitating integration into small parts assembly cells.
- Pneumatic Drive: Simple control and high dynamics for short cycle times.
- Individual Strokes: Flexibly adjustable to your specific application via stop screws.
-
Query: Despite its small size, end position queries can be integrated in a space-saving manner. These are simply clamped into the hollow stop screws.
Areas of Application: Where the LSM-3 Excels
With 3 available stroke lengths (20, 35, and 50 mm), adjustable via stop screws, and the option with or without mounted shock absorbers, the LSM-3 feels at home where "normal" linear slides are too bulky.
Conclusion: Compact Without Compromises
The LSM-3 mini slide proves that "very small" doesn't have to mean "less stable." With its two-carriage system, Friedemann Wagner offers a solution for designers who don't want to compromise between installation space and accuracy. With our product, we offer the linear unit for small, even the smallest, installation spaces.
It's a mini linear slide – specifically for the automation of small workpieces.
The recommended payload is 0.5 kg, which is 5 times its own weight.
The load is safely carried by 2 guiding carriages (sealed ball-bearing guides), as shown in the picture.
