pneumatic vs. hydraulic/electric e.g. using a Swivel Unit

  • Continuous adjustment of speed (e.g. turning of Rotary Indexing Table) and forces by cylinders.
  • Enables high working-speed (up to 1500mm/s in case of standard-cylinders).
  • Pneumatic operated handling units, often can cover downtime without damage.
  • Simple construction, most often lighter, smaller und less prone to interference.
  • Waste heat does not impact each local electric unit inside the application, but only outside – at the central placed compressor.
  • Pneumatic handling-units, like our Rotary Indexing Units, do not serve their waste heat into the applicaton. Instead, the air-flow is able to cool or to spread temperatures.
  • Solid, proven and popular technical solution with a worldwide available market of accessoires.
  • Other working substances (e.g. hydraulic-oil of electro-hydrauic systems) cause costs and have to be ordered seperatly.
Non treated air for pneumatic systems always is available, everywhere and for free.
  • Pneumatical lines do not need a return path – the structure is simple – even in use of Swivel Units or Rotary Indexing Units.
  • Air, as energy for Swivel Units or Rotary Indexing Units, can be stored, that means the drive is available – also in terms of short power failures drive.
  • Leakage always has to be avoided, but evasive air e.g. from a Swivel Unit will not cause environmental impact as e.g. oil does.
  • Pneumatic applications are resistent to magnetic or nuclear emmision allowing e.g. Rotary Indexing Tables to be used .
