NSS – inductive screw-in-sensors
inductive sensors - principle
inductive sensors are based on the physical principle, that electric power/voltage is generated by movement inside magnetical fields. The sensor is robust and works by distance. Wear free – as no direct contact is needed!
The so called „switching distance“ differs each manufacturer but enables the use together with a metallic object. Depending on metal material and distance, the field of the coil inside the sensor will be closed. The generated voltage - or physically correct: the change of voltage – leads to a given signal at the sensor output.
Inductive sensors, with a big switching distance, enable „earlier“ signals. Hence if switching distance is small, the object has to be very near to the sensor-surface, to activate the field.
Inductive sensors by Wagner – type NSS
This is where the proximity-switching-set NSS by Friedemann Wagner gets to the point!
The cylindric sensor is equipped with a male thread and a knurl. Via thread-turn, the sensor can be adjusted exactly to the needed distance concerning use, purpose and metal. Keep in mind: different metal-materials have different conductibilites! This has an impact on the switching capability and the distance to enable the function.
The knurl is used to clamp the adjusted sensor – after correct placement.
The inductive sensor of Wagner has a special „field“ – beaming only to front-side. This avoids a „wrong“ signal, when being screwed into a hollow area.
Inductive sensors type NSS can be set „flush fitted“ - e.g. inside the hollow stop-screws of our swivel- units. Benefit: it enables the precise monitoring of the real end-position of swivel angle! A feature that allows you a detection of defect shock absorbers! Avoid expensive subsequent damages!
sensors | switching distance [mm] | length [mm] | Ø sensor [mm] | thread | technical data |
NSS-O6,5-S-65 | 1,0 | 65 | 6,5 | M10x1 | Type "Not open" (NO); PNP; 10...30V DC; 1,5kHz; 200mA |

For sure: you also can use standard sensors of other manufactures in our pneumatic units. To clamp them inside the hollow stop-screws, we do offer a special fastening-set.
